Description

A full-time, 9-month, instructional faculty position is available to start in August 2026. This position requires particular expertise in pedagogical methods in Emergency Medical Services. Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field (Master’s degree preferred or required depending on institutional policy), required.


Primary duties include responsibilities in teaching Emergency Management Services (EMS) courses (50%) and coordinating the Phlebotomy, CPR, and EKG certificate programs (50%). This role combines direct instruction, curriculum oversight, compliance management, and student support to ensure high-quality education and workforce readiness across multiple short-term allied health pathways. The ideal candidate brings strong clinical or field experience, demonstrated teaching ability, and a commitment to developing in-demand healthcare professionals.


Minimum of 3 years of recent EMS field experience. Minimum of 3 years prior community college teaching experience. Current certification/licensure as an EMT, Paramedic, or related EMS professional. Teaching experience in EMS, allied health, or related fields—college-level experience preferred. Ability to obtain and maintain instructor credentials required for the certificate programs (e.g., AHA CPR Instructor) within a specified period. Strong organizational and communication skills, with an ability to manage multiple programs and deadlines. Experience with accreditation processes, clinical partnerships, and short-term workforce programs.


The successful candidate will also use a learner-centered approach to teaching that incorporates active learning strategies, implement technology to enhance student learning in virtual, online, and in-person classroom instruction settings; student academic advisement; collaborate with other faculty in ongoing curriculum development, program review, and assessment of student learning. Candidates must possess strong interpersonal and technology skills, ability to work in teams, and flexibility to teach day, evening, and/ or weekend hours as needed. 


Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Position reports to the Dean of Allied Health and Public Services. Major responsibilities are in the areas of Teaching/Learning, Professional Growth, and Service to the College and Community. Faculty are expected to be progressive in instructional strategies and in their discipline; to be actively involved in the governance of the College and participate in college-wide initiatives; to plan future directions for their programs and the College as a whole; and to be collegial in their relationships with colleagues, staff, and students. Each faculty member is directly responsible to a departmental/divisional administrator.

As a professional educator, the faculty member shall continue to grow and develop as an educator and as a member of his/her profession through formal and/or informal activities which increase knowledge and enhance teaching ability.


Service to the College and Community

As a member of a learning community, faculty members are expected to contribute to thelifeoftheCollege.Theiractivitiesadvancethegoalsandimageofone’sprogram, division, and the College as a whole.


All faculty are required to:

  • Participate in scheduled institutional meetings and activities.
  • Participate in program and College accreditation, curriculum development, and program assessment.
  • Assist in the formulation of division objectives and goals.
  • Serve on at least one faculty or All-College Committee annually (after the first year of hire).
  • Teach courses at a variety of times and locations in response to student and institutional need.
  • Participate in student and/or community activities that foster goodwill and promote the mission of the College.
  • Assist in the articulation of courses and programs with secondary and post- secondary institutions.
  • Maintain collegial relationships with other college personnel.

Work Environment

This work is performed in an office-like environment with a minimal amount of noise. This position requires some travel between campuses.
