POSITION SUMMARY

The Akron Police Department is seeking motivated individuals committed to public service and community safety. Officers are responsible for protecting life and property, enforcing laws, and building strong relationships within the community. Academy training offered.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Enforce local, state, and federal laws

• Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls

• Conduct investigations and complete reports

• Engage with the community to promote safety and trust

• Maintain public order and ensure community protection

SCHEDULE

• 10-hour shifts with every other weekend off

• 15 paid holidays per year

• Accumulate 4 hours of paid leave per week

ACADEMY TRAINING

• 26-week paid academy

• Ohio’s first STAR awarded academy

• Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must meet law enforcement eligibility requirements

• Ability to complete police academy training

• Strong communication and decision-making skills

• Commitment to public service and teamwork
