Company Description Schuerger Law firm is a leading creditor's rights firm with contracts on the local, state and federal level. Paralegal in this position are responsible for managing the lifecycle of a civil caseload of unsecured and secured debts in multiple states and federal judicial districts using demonstrated expertise and thorough understanding of either typical civil litigation, collections, or foreclosure practices. Working independently and as a team member to achieve caseload, portfolio and team success, Paralegals must use their experience and judgment to prioritize, identify, coordinate and follow up on next steps in the legal process for a caseload of files.

 

Job description – Paralegal

Job Overview:

Paralegals in this position are responsible for

· Managing lifecycle of a civil caseload of unsecured and secured debts in multiple states and federal judicial districts using demonstrated expertise and thorough understanding of either typical civil litigation, collections, or foreclosure practices,

· Working independently and as a team member to achieve caseload, portfolio and team success. Paralegals must use their experience and judgment to prioritize, identify, coordinate and follow up on next steps in the legal process for a caseload of files,

· Performing work on case files, including legal filing, service follow up, hearing preparation, note taking, asset searches, and phone/email communication with defendants, counsel, courts, etc.

· Coordinating with legal professionals in multiple jurisdictions regarding case management and best practice,

· Using advanced computer skills, including experience with Office 365, PACER/ECF, e-filing and account management software to effectively manage case data, and

· Maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.

 

Qualifications

· HS Diploma or equivalent is required: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred,

· Minimum of two years’ experience in civil litigation (federal courts preferred), creditor’s rights/collections or exposure to the complete foreclosure process from filing of complaint through to sheriff’s sale,

· A strong work ethic with the ability to balance and prioritize a high-volume workload,

· Professional written and verbal skills and the ability to communicate with co-workers, defendants, clients, counsel, courts, and others,

· Knowledge of post-judgment remedies: state and federal

· Excellent organizational skills,

· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a team, establishing and sustaining relationships,

· Computer skills: proficiency in Microsoft Office (1 year minimum) and some experience in account management software

 

Responsibilities

· Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and briefs

· Conduct legal research on various topics and compile findings

· Manage and organize case files and documentation

· Transcribe legal proceedings and correspondence accurately

· Communicate with clients, witnesses, and court personnel

· Assist in trial preparation and attend court hearings when necessary

 

Requirements

· Strong Preference for in-office applicants. Only candidates with exceptional qualifications will be considered for remote position.

· Proven experience as a Litigation Paralegal or similar role

· Proficiency in legal case management software

· Excellent research skills with the ability to gather and analyze information effectively

· Familiarity with legal research tools

· Organizational skills to maintain accurate records and documentation

· Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment

· Must pass Federal “Public Trust” background check (see https://help.usajobs.gov/faq/job-announcement/security-clearances)

Salary: negotiable based on qualifications/experience: anticipated

range $40,000 - $55,000 per year

Travel requirement: No travel
