Job Summary


The Senior Quality Technician supports quality assurance activities for the Nordson MCS Division, with a strong focus on New Product Development (NPD) and market quality issue resolution. This role partners closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Customer Support to ensure products meet internal and customer quality standards throughout the product lifecycle.



Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities


New Product Development (NPD) Support



* Support quality activities for new product introductions, including prototype builds, pilot runs, and production launches


* Participate in design reviews, PFMEA, DFMEA, control plans, and risk assessments


* Develop and execute inspection plans and First Article Inspections (FAI)


* Validate inspection methods, gaging, and test equipment for new designs


* Partner with Engineering to identify design for quality and manufacturability risks early in development


Market Quality & Corrective Actions



* Investigate market-reported quality issues, including customer complaints, returns, and warranty claims


* Perform root cause analysis using structured problem-solving tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, DMAIC)


* Support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address in-field quality issues


* Coordinate failure analysis and communicate findings to cross-functional teams


* Verify effectiveness of corrective actions, update quality documentation, and ensure updated SOPs are actively being followed by operators.


Production & Supplier Quality Support



* Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections


* Support supplier quality activities and nonconformance resolution


* Assist with calibration and maintenance of inspection and test equipment


* Support MRB activities and disposition of nonconforming material


Documentation & Continuous Improvement



* Maintain accurate quality records, inspection results, and reports


* Support internal and external audits


* Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in quality processes


* Mentor and support junior quality technicians



Education and Experience Requirements



Required Qualifications



* Associate degree or technical certification in Quality, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, or equivalent experience.


* Minimum 5+ years of highly autonomous quality technician experience in a manufacturing or lab environment.


* Proven ability to perform independent physical teardowns, reverse-engineering, or failure reproduction testing to support New Product Development and CAPAs.


* Experience utilizing oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, soldering equipment, and proprietary test software to extract and synthesize data


* Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read complex mechanical drawings, GD&T, and inspection methods.


* High relational acumen with the ability to communicate effectively across production and engineering to facilitate root cause analysis.


* Experience utilizing advanced electronic lab equipment (such as oscilloscopes and DVMs), component-level soldering skills, and test fixtures to extract and synthesize raw data.
