Responsibilities
- Understands and performs laboratory activities to all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements
- Performs and evaluates quality control testing on blood products using hematology analyzers, pH meters, and WBC counting technologies
- Performs blood product manufacturing on RBCs and PLTs
- Maintains equipment by performing daily quality control and preventative maintenance
- Performs testing on proficiency testing for CAP surveys
- Labels blood products according to regulatory requirements
- Accessions and packs blood donor sample tubes for infectious disease testing where applicable
- Performs reconciliations, lot release and client sample release of infectious disease testing
- Performs pathogen reduction production process on blood products, as applicable
- Performs donor antigen testing and antibody titrations, as applicable
- Conducts validation procedures to qualify new production processes
- Assists in annual revisions of procedures
- Supports trainers by coordinating and maintaining staff training and competencies
- Maintains competencies in required tasks in Core Production and/or Hospital Services
- Maintains equipment reagent inventory levels for daily laboratory operations
- Delegates, monitors and motivates team members
- Works in partnership with Leads and Supervisor to improve communication between management and employees
- Works weekend, holiday rotations and on-call, as needed
- Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in biology or related science preferred
- Associate's Degree in a chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory technology or other experience may be accepted by management required
Experience
- 1-3 years 1+ year of related work experience in a health care setting preferred

- Ability to read and interpret Standard Operating Procedures, maintenance instructions, and other department manuals required
- Above average attention to detail and problem-solving skills required
