We are seeking a detail‑driven, highly curious, and relationship‑centered Kinnect to Family Specialist to help children maintain meaningful connections with the people who know and love them. The ideal candidate is someone who naturally dives deep into information, enjoys investigative work, and can piece together complex family networks to uncover potential supports, relatives, and safe placement options.

You’ll connect with families, search records and databases, review case files, and engage relatives to strengthen a child’s support system. You’ll collaborate closely with caseworkers, courts, and community partners while advocating for safe, stable kinship placements and helping families understand next steps, including licensing requirements.

Position Overview
Under the direct supervision of the Children Services Administrator, the Social Services Worker 2- Kinnect Family Specialist utilizes the strategies of diligent searching and relentless engagement to identify potential connections, supports, and kinship placement options for children prior to being placed in the custody of JFS or that are already in foster care. Initially, this position will search for non-offending parents, adult relatives, and other kinship but the goal is that at least 80 additional relatives will be identified and explored. In all services, every effort is made to keep siblings together, maintain children in their school of origin, and pre-serve the child’s important relationships with friends and supportive adults.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in human services related studies OR
- A bachelor's degree in any field and employed for at least two years in a human service-related occupation OR
- An associate degree in human services related studies. OR
- At least five years of employment in a human service-related occupation.
- Licensed Social Worker (LSW) and experience within social welfare or client welfare services are preferred.
If the candidate does not already have a bachelor’s degree at the time of hire, they MUST obtain a human service-related bachelor’s degree within five (5) years of hire in accordance with section 5101:2-33-55 of the Ohio Administrative Code
