The Director of Logistics will lead the strategic operational initiatives for logistics performance while collaborating across the organization with Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Engineering organizations, to deliver tangible results as well as to instill a mindset and culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement. They will also spearhead the strategic management of logistics and warehousing operations, ensuring the safe and efficient movement, storage, and distribution of chemical products. This role is pivotal in developing and executing logistics strategies that adhere to regulatory requirements, enhance operational efficiency, and support the company's growth objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Formulate and implement comprehensive logistics and warehousing strategies tailored to the unique needs of the chemical industry. Align logistics operations with the company's overall strategic goals and regulatory compliance requirements.
* Oversee all aspects of logistics and warehousing, including the handling and storage of hazardous materials. Ensure adherence to safety regulations, industry standards, and environmental policies.
* Lead, mentor, and develop the logistics and warehousing team. Promote a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Manage staffing, training, and performance evaluations to build a high-performing team.
* Develop and manage the logistics and warehousing budget, ensuring cost-effective operations. Analyze financial performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement budgetary controls.
* Establish and maintain relationships with logistics service providers, suppliers, and other key partners. Negotiate contracts and service agreements to ensure optimal service levels and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
* Implement advanced technologies in automation for logistics and warehousing systems tailored to the company's requirements. Stay informed about technological advancements and industry trends to enhance operational capabilities.
* Ensure compliance with all applicable local, national, and international regulations related to the handling, storage, and transportation of chemical products. Develop and enforce protocols to manage risks and ensure safe operations.
* Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of logistics and warehousing operations. Use data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement and address operational challenges.
* Collaborate with other departments, including manufacturing, quality control, and customer service, to ensure seamless integration and communication across the organization. Facilitate coordination to meet customer requirements and enhance service delivery.
* Work across the organization to develop and drive to completion strategic initiatives around Productivity, and On-time Delivery
* Work with support functions to collaborate and maximize impact of support function processes including supply chain, quality, and engineering.
* Apply Continuous Improvement and Lean tools to improve/redesign business processes, in order to drive productivity, efficiency, simplification, and waste elimination
* Work with internal teams to yield maximum improvement in Safety, Quality, Delivery throughput and Cost efficiency through:
* Business Process Improvement - Define, optimize, and maintain end to end business processes (e.g., map/analyze using standard problem-solving tools and techniques)
* Root cause problem solving, and training teams on standardized approach
* Identify and quantify continuous improvement opportuni
