Create and review 3D layouts to communicate and confirm lighting assembly designs. Provide project leadership by helping to establish schedule, deliverables, priorities, etc. for less experienced designers. Provide technical expertise, guidance and mentoring to less experienced designers. Collaborate with styling teams to set feasible directions and fix final designs. Lead part design with suppliers, set design targets, and confirm final design drawings. Understand and ensure designs meet technical requirements. Support part and vehicle verification. Create and implement design countermeasures. Create and communicate design concepts to achieve marketability targets. Estimate and manage part cost and weight including review of supplier quotes for lighting assemblies.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering; 3 years of relevant professional experience; 3 years of exterior lighting development experience; 3 years of experience with Catia V5 exposure to create 2D technical assembly drawings; 3 years of experience creating accurate CATIA V5 layouts using both section and surface design methods to communicate and confirm design requirements; 3 years of experience leading project management to take a design concept from sketch to mass production ready part, Including managing the overall schedule and setting priorities to meet project deadlines; 3 years of experience working with others to estimate assembly cost and tooling investment; and 3 years of experience leading feasibility including negotiating with the design studio, vehicle design/test engineers, and suppliers.
