JOB DUTIES: Handling manual tasks associated with commodity production and harvest activities. Details of Material Term or Condition (up to 3,500 characters) * Harvest black berries. Field care - clean drip emitters and microjets, remove plastic drip lines, clean alleys, prune dead wood from skirts and sucker/water sprout removal, remove dead plants, and weed removal. black berry Harvesting - Pluck black berries from the plant by hand, place them in baskets and flats, and turn fruit in at the collected site. Workers must follow supervisors' instructions on ladder safety, food safety, hand washing, use of restrooms, and handling of fruit. Prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and reaching. The job is outdoors and continues in all types of weather. Must be able to work long hours in direct sunlight, where weather conditions may be hot and humid, rain is possible, and the worker will be exposed to pollen the entire day while performing the job duties. The majority of the workday is spent on one's feet and outdoors. Hours and days of work may vary due to weather conditions. Must be able to lift 70lbs. to shoulder height repetitively throughout the workday and lift and carry 70lbs. in the field. All physical requirements will occur in an outdoor environment exposed to the elements for extended periods. Workers should be able to work on their feet in bent positions for long periods. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, etc., may affect workers’ ability to perform the job. Workers should be physically able to do the work required with or without reasonable accommodations. While working in the fields, workers are exposed to wet weather early in the morning and heat throughout the day. Temperatures may range from 30 to 100 F. Workers may be required to work during occasional showers that are not severe enough to stop field operations. Workers may be required to perform work on the farm that is incidental to farming the crops listed in the application, such as hand-cultivation tasks, weeding or hoeing various crops, cleaning and repairing farm buildings, seed beds, and grounds, setting up and moving irrigation pipes and equipment, gardening, weeding, and shrubbing, etc. This is a demanding and competitive business in which quality specifications must be rigorously followed. Sloppy work cannot and will not be tolerated. Daily individual work assignments, crew assignments, and work location will be made by and at the sole discretion of the farm manager or farm supervisor as the needs of the farming operation dictate. Workers may be assigned various duties or different tasks on any given day. Workers will be expected to perform any listed duties and work on any crop as assigned by the worker's supervisor.
EMPLOYER ASSURANCES:
BOARD ARRANGEMENTS: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities so workers are able to prepare their own meals. The employer will provide transportation to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries.
HOUSING: Employer-provided housing is available for all workers who live outside a reasonable daily driving distance.
TRANSPORTATION TO WORK SITE: The employer will provide transportation for all workers living in the employer-provided housing to and from the daily work site(s).
WORKERS COMPENSATION INSURANCE: Provided.
TOOLS, SUPPLIES, EQUIPMENT: Tools, supplies, and equipment needed to complete the job will be provided by the employer at no cost to the worker.
