SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have at least 0 months of verifiable experience in all job duties. This job requires exposure to extreme temperatures, ability to lift 40 lbs., repetitive movements, extensive walking, frequent stooping, extensive pushing and pulling, criminal background check.
JOB DUTIES: Handling manual tasks associated with commodity production and harvest activities. Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Field Preparation, Plant watermelons plants and Weeding the fields. Field Preparation – worker will provide support in the preparation of the planting rows by securing the plastic that is laid by a tractor and also connecting row irrigation drip lines. This job requires walking for miles while identifying the areas of the plastic that may need securing. Securing the plastic requires bending and the use of a shovel to put dirt on the plastic. Connecting the irrigation lines requires repeated bending to twist and secure the connection. Planting – Must be able to walk miles per day while grabbing plant trays from a wagon and placing them in a premade hole. Work requires repetitive bending to plant. Weeding The FieldsAfter planting the watermelons, workers will work removing weeds from the fields by pulling them by hand or through the use of a hoe. Job requires walking for miles and bending while pulling the weeds. Removing weeds may expose worker to dust particles or abrasive weeds. Detasseling Corn: Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Detassel Corn – Must be able to walk miles per day while pulling all tassels from plants within the designated female rows, including tassels on tiller/sucker plants. Tassels will be pulled as they emerge and before shedding. This activity requires continuous use of hands to pull the tassels.
EMPLOYER ASSURANCES:
BOARD ARRANGEMENTS: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities so workers are able to prepare their own meals. The employer will provide transportation to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries.
HOUSING: Employer-provided housing is available for all workers who live outside a reasonable daily driving distance.
TRANSPORTATION TO WORK SITE: The employer will provide transportation for all workers living in the employer-provided housing to and from the daily work site(s).
WORKERS COMPENSATION INSURANCE: Provided.
TOOLS, SUPPLIES, EQUIPMENT: Tools, supplies, and equipment needed to complete the job will be provided by the employer at no cost to the worker.
