Annealing Operator
Location: Brooklyn, OH
Employment Type: Full-Time
Pay Range: $22.90–$26.55 per hour
Schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | 3 days on / 4 days off (rotating every other week)
Position Summary
The Annealing Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring annealing equipment to ensure steel products meet quality and customer specifications. This role requires strict adherence to Quality Management System (QMS) standards, accurate data entry into annealing control systems, and the ability to follow detailed work instructions and customer-specific requirements. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate annealing equipment in accordance with established procedures and safety standards
- Follow all Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and quality policies
- Review and execute work instructions and customer-specific requirements
- Enter, monitor, and retrieve data in annealing control systems, including:
- Recipe input
- System startup and shutdown
- Emergency shutdown procedures
- Verify work orders and process materials according to specifications
- Inspect materials, identify quality defects, and escalate issues as needed
- Read and follow packaging and processing instructions
- Complete required documentation, including data sheets, rejection reports, and tracking systems
- Communicate equipment or maintenance issues to supervisors and maintenance staff
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Support continuous improvement and operational efficiency initiatives
Required Skills & Abilities
- Ability to read and use measuring tools (tape measures, micrometers)
- Experience operating material handling equipment (remote control cranes, forklifts)
- Ability to band coils and safely handle steel materials
- Proficiency with hand and power tools
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality defects
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, tags, and packaging instructions
- Basic computer skills for data entry and system navigation
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to recognize and report maintenance issues
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous manufacturing or warehouse experience preferred but not required
