Conducts field investigation, interviews applicants and/or recipients concerning marital status, whereabouts of absent parents. Conducts investigations concerning income, employment & financial status of obligor and oblige, verified employment information. Attempts to locate absent parents through various channels. Assists in criminal officers’ prosecution by cooperating with law enforcement officers, judicial and government officials and testifies when necessary.
Conducts investigations relating to paternity establishment, non-payment of support, claims, applications, fraud violation reports, and complaints. Prepares URESA petitions and obtains supporting documentation.
Maintains record of progress in locating absent parents. Prepares necessary documents for voluntary paternity acknowledgement and submits referrals to file paternity complaints to IV-D attorney. Calculates amount of child support to be ordered according to the support schedule & makes appropriate recommendations to Court.
Attends all required training and staff meetings. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Completion of two years technical training or undergraduate major core coursework in criminology, social work, psychology, or related field.
Or, two years’ experience in performing child support functions to include conducting investigations to locate absent parents, establishment of paternity, and enforcement of child support order.
Or, on course or six months experience in interviewing techniques, one course or six months experience in business math, one course or six months experience in case preparation techniques, one course or six months experience in techniques of writing, and one course or six months experience in work processing.
