Position Summary
Behavioral Health Choices (BHC) is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to provide medical oversight and direct patient care within withdrawal management, mental health, and substance use disorder treatment programs. This position supports clinical teams across multiple BHC locations on an as-needed basis.
The RN will report to the Program Supervisor for employment-related matters and collaborate closely with the Medical Manager regarding patient care and medical concerns. This role is ideal for a team-oriented nurse who is passionate about behavioral health and recovery-focused care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing assessments, interventions, and direct patient care for individuals in withdrawal management and behavioral health treatment
- Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and assess patient health status; report changes to appropriate medical staff
- Collaborate with the Medical Manager and interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Conduct medication counts, urine drug screens, and other clinical oversight activities in accordance with safety protocols
- Educate patients and families on medications, treatment plans, and recovery resources
- Provide crisis intervention and utilize de-escalation techniques to support patients in withdrawal and recovery
- Participate in case management, discharge planning, and team meetings
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with agency policies and regulatory standards
- Utilize electronic health records (EHR) and telehealth/videoconferencing platforms as needed
- Assist with clinic flow and provide general clinical support across programs
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program
- Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio
- Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience preferred (behavioral health, addiction treatment, or related setting strongly preferred)
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and general computer applications (Microsoft Office, email, internet)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in mental health, substance use disorder treatment, or withdrawal management
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and recovery-oriented practices
