Position Summary
Behavioral Health Choices (BHC) is seeking a reliable and compassionate Treatment Assistant to support clients in a residential substance use disorder treatment program. This role is responsible for monitoring client activities, supporting daily living skills, and maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.
This position is ideal for individuals interested in gaining experience in behavioral health, addiction recovery, or human services.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor clients within a residential treatment setting to ensure safety and program compliance
- Assist clients with activities of daily living, including cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping, and personal organization
- Provide support and guidance in developing life skills and healthy routines
- Engage with clients in a constructive and professional manner, including assisting with homework, facilitating discussions, and supporting conflict resolution
- Enforce program rules, expectations, and disciplinary procedures in a consistent and respectful manner
- Facilitate entry-level weekend treatment programming and structured activities
- Monitor client and family visits in accordance with program guidelines
- Complete accurate and timely documentation in the agency’s electronic health record system
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff and team members regarding client needs and concerns
- Work overtime or extended hours as needed to maintain adequate staffing coverage
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required (Associate degree preferred)
- Minimum age of 21 years
- Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or residential care settings
- Knowledge of recovery principles and trauma-informed care
- Experience working with individuals in crisis or high-need populations
