Senior Development Engineer positions offered by Dana Automotive Systems Group, LLC (Maumee, Ohio). Focus on the design & development of new products to meet the future needs of our global customers. Lead in evaluating key product parameters. Lead the testing of electric axles. Support the development of new light vehicle axle products. Support identifying new product opportunities. Support defining potential design solutions. Assist in the development and evaluation of oil cooling and lubrication systems. Assist with the evaluation of product design and CAE analysis. Assist selection of optimum design solution. Assist in defining product performance goals. Assist the product DFMEA. Assist Advanced Product Engineers with the design of new products. Assist with product prototype manufacture assembly and modification. Coordinate the product development tests, bench and potentially vehicle tests. Assist in design rules for key product parameters against product performance. Assist applications in customer proposals and customer presentations.
• Requires a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and 3 years of experience in product development.
• In lieu of a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in the aforementioned fields and 3 years of experience as stated, employer will accept a master’s or foreign equivalent degree in the aforementioned fields and 1 year of experience as stated.
• Must also have 1 year of experience in each of the following:
o Performing electric drive traction motor setup on Dyno, including setup motor and inverter software to interface with UTAC REPS Software;
o Performing CAD software designing fixtures for axles and subcomponents;
o Performing lubrication flow development building clear test samples used to test oil flow rates to axle gear sets and bearings;
o Performing instrumentation and test stand design, including selection of sensors as well as programing dyno software to record these sensors;
o Building and testing electric or hybrid systems leading assembly and modification of first-generation prototype samples as well as determining test parameters to be ran;
o Performing project management ensuring readiness for testing when samples arrive and completing testing that meets customer timelines; and
o Developing electric test vehicles, including, vehicle build, controls or vehicle level testing.
