Position: Canteen Manager
Job Summary:
The Canteen Manager oversees daily operations of the canteen to ensure efficient service, high-quality food standards, and excellent customer satisfaction. This role manages staff, inventory, budgeting, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily canteen operations, ensuring timely food preparation and service
• Manage, train, and schedule canteen staff
• Maintain inventory, order supplies, and monitor stock levels
• Ensure all food is prepared and stored according to health and safety guidelines
• Handle cash management, including POS operation, cash counts, and deposits
• Plan menus, set pricing, and manage cost controls to maintain profitability
• Address customer inquiries, feedback, and concerns
• Ensure cleanliness of the kitchen, dining areas, and equipment
• Monitor compliance with state/local health regulations
• Track and report sales, expenses, and operational trends
• Coordinate with vendors for timely delivery and product quality
• Implement and enforce company policies and operational procedures
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree in hospitality or business is a plus)
• Prior experience in food service, cafeteria operations, or retail management
• Leadership and staff management skills
• Excellent communication and customer‑service abilities
• Basic knowledge of food safety requirements and sanitation standards
• Ability to perform basic budgeting and inventory management
• Proficiency with POS systems and basic computer applications
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate weight
