POSITION SUMMARY

The Technical Writer
I
is responsible for
taking complex, technical information and translating it into an easily understandable format, per customer guidelines.
This role w

ork closely with experienced writers and
other
internal
employees to
interpret
contractual specifications, engineering drawings, reports, and other data to help produce technical documentation
.

nterfaces with customer
and/
or
customer's
representatives
throughout project,
as required
.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Writestechnical documents/manualsaccording to specificationsfor customer
- Completesassignments according to company policies and procedures
- Researchesexisting data to maximize use of previously developed text and/or illustrations
- Draftstext materialstoensure text and illustrations arecompleted andcoordinated per final product requirements
- Documentsandarchivestechnical data overlong periodsin an efficient, established methodto aid in future related projects
- Tracksand recordstime spent on projects
- Communicatesstatus of work to management and any needs foradditionalinformation, technical procedures, etc.
- Completesassigned tasks according to established deadlines and customer specifications and company policies and procedures
- Performsany other job-related instructions, as requested with reasonable accommodation
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
:
- General office environment;requiredto use office equipment (companycomputer, telephone/smartphone, photocopier);requiredto sit/stand forlong periodsof time
- May berequiredto work in a shop or manufacturing facility;exposure to hazardous chemicals and/or bloodborne pathogens is possible; noise level may be high in shop or manufacturing facility
- May berequiredto work on heavy equipment and/or heavy-duty vehicles to perform duties and responsibilities;requiredto sit, stand, bend,kneeland lie down; mayberequiredtolift upto 50pounds
- May berequired(on short notice) to work overtime/additional hours to meet deadlines; may occasionally requireworkingweekendsand/or holidays, as needed
- Mayberequiredtotravel by motor vehicle and/or airplane tocomplete job requirements; estimated to be less thanfive (5)percent; limited projects may require travel to up to 50percent
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) isrequired
- Associatedegree in a technicalor mechanicalfield or equivalent work experience isrequired
Experience:
- Zerototwo(0-2) years of experiencein a mechanical, technical,or writing fieldwriting complete, complex technical documents, including organizing the document and working with internal and external personnel(e.g.,agencies, customer)
T
echnical Experience:
- Basiclevel ofproficiencywith Microsoft WordandMicrosoftExcelis preferred
- Basic level ofproficiencywith desktop publishing toolsis preferred
- Basic technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical,pneumatic, hydraulic,electronic,and/or aeronauticalsystemsis preferred
- Basic knowledge of related fields, including illustrating, provisioning, and logistic support analysisis preferred
Certification Licensure:
- Valid driver's license in state of residency with acceptable driving record is preferred
- Valid driver's license in state of residency with acceptable driving record is preferred
