About this opportunity:


Cenovus is seeking a Tax Analyst to support the U.S. indirect tax team with day-to-day compliance and reporting activities in our Dublin office. In this role, you will assist in preparing U.S. Fuel Excise, Sales & Use, and related indirect tax filings; gather, validate, and organize data; and help maintain accurate tax records and documentation. You will also support senior team members with basic tax research, audit responses, system updates, and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and comfortable working collaboratively across accounting, finance, and business operations to ensure timely and accurate indirect tax compliance



What you'll do:



* Prepare, reconcile, and file U.S. indirect tax returns (Fuel Excise, Sales & Use, and other taxes) across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submission.


* Maintain and review indirect tax rules, rates, and configurations in tax and ETRM systems; support system updates and business initiatives with indirect tax implications.


* Perform indirect tax general ledger reconciliations, analyze variances, and prepare required journal entries and supporting schedules.


* Conduct preliminary research of indirect tax legislation, regulations, and administrative guidance; assist in the development of positions and documentation supporting compliance and audit readiness.


* Coordinate with internal teams to gather data, answer indirect tax questions, support transaction reviews, and provide tax analysis to internal stakeholders.


* Support U.S. federal and state indirect tax audits, licensing and registration requirements, and contribute to process improvements that enhance compliance efficiency and controls.


Who you are:



* Legally authorized to work in the US.


* Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.


* 2+ years of relevant experience in indirect tax, accounting, or similar roles with strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.


* Oil and gas experience and CPA designation (or progress toward) are considered assets.
