The Immigration Specialist position requires a law-based Master's degree, Juris Doctor, or foreign equivalent of a Juris Doctor; a minimum of one year experience working at a law firm or for in-house counsel, or a combination of law firm and in-house experience; two letters of recommendation from former employers or academic supervisors;
English and Spanish fluency; and full-time availability.
Job duties include: Interview prospective and current clients in both English and Spanish to evaluate eligibility for immigration benefits and/or relief from removal; prepare, review, and file nonimmigrant and immigrant visa petitions to US Citizenship & Immigration Services; prepare, review, and file applications for relief in removal proceedings; support immigration attorneys in researching immigration and government regulations, case law, and procedures; communicate extensively with clients regarding requests for information, case status, and immigration procedures in both English and Spanish; prepare legal briefs and motions for the Executive Office of Immigration review, US Citizenship & Immigration Services, and various state and local courts; assist attorneys and clients with analyzing foreign legal documents from Central and South American countries.
