Position: Server Administrator Agency: Information Technology Services
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or university; and four (4) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Qualifications (Agency/Dept. Qualifications):
Strong experience with Windows Server administration, configuration, patching and troubleshooting. Proficiency in VMware virtualization technologies, including host, storage and virtual machine management. IP Telephony. Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery including data protection, replication, recovery testing and restoration procedures. Experience with Microsoft Entra ID administration and hybrid identity environments is a plus. Experience with M365 administration and integration, including Exchange Online and related cloud services.
Hours: Core Business Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, 35 hours per week
Salary: $39.00 to $44.00 per hour
Summary:
Manages applications and implements policies for monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and securing the services and business applications that reside on the voice and data network.
Duties:
· Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
· Promotes and maintains positive and effective working relationships and promotes good public relationships as a representative of Licking County Government.
· Assists the Senior Network Administrator and assigns network-related projects to ensure platform consistency and provide enhanced security; works in conjunction with the Senior Network Administrator to develop architecture standards and strategy including server consolidation plans.
· Oversees the management of both the virtual and physical server environments.
· Implements tools that enable extended management, full redundancy, point-in-time snapshots, maintenance provisioning, and disaster recovery operations
· Monitors and manages growth and space requirements of the Microsoft Exchange server.
· Ensures mail delivery by monitoring the domain and public IP addresses to ensure different subscriber lists do not block them and investigating non-delivery receipts
· Provides management of email archiving capabilities including the creating of confidential reports on email usage and compliance with public records requests involving email.
· Evaluates and installs server and client operating system patches.
· Installs, maintains, and repairs server hardware and associated software in county agency/departments; handles the setup of all new physical and virtual servers.
· Ensures server performance and maintains high availability of applications by monitoring CPU and memory utilization, reviewing event logs and taking the appropriate actions, verifying anti-virus signature updates, patch management that critical services are running.
· Ensures critical 24X7 public safety services are available, remains accessible, and takes the necessary action immediately in the event of an outage.
· Implements business continuity and disaster recovery operations in accordance with adopted policies.
· Oversees the management of the Microsoft Active Directory Environment including administration to ensure security compliance and standardization.
· Architects and implements storage management practices to reduce I/O and improve performance and reduce energy costs in adherence with documented county records retention policies.
· Generates, modifies, and maintains documentation of configurations, policies, and procedures related to the administration of the county network, security policies, and the remaining areas identified in this document.
· Monitors the data center power and environmental conditions.
· Acts in a helpdesk support capacity during periods of high demand and providing high-level support by providing technical assistance to end users.
· Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to the essential functions of the position and all agency safety procedures.
· Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties; may be required to meet with vendors, collaborate with peers, and attend seminars/training.
