Assistant Retail Manager
Department: Retail Reports To: Retail Manager
Role Summary: Responsible for leading daily retail operations during assigned shifts while actively working alongside the team. This role ensures staff are directed effectively, tasks are completed correctly, and retail standards are consistently met. The Assistant Retail Manager maintains flow, supports the team during peak times, and ensures the shift is running smoothly and according to established expectations.
Core Responsibilities:
● Run the retail floor during assigned shifts and ensure smooth daily operations
● Assign and adjust staff positions based on customer volume and workflow needs
● Actively work alongside staff, especially during busy periods, while maintaining awareness of the floor
● Direct staff clearly and keep all team members on task with no downtime
● Ensure all tasks (stocking, prep, cleaning) are completed correctly and to standard
● Verify product quality, presentation, and overall store readiness throughout the shift
● Ensure the shift is set up and running correctly based on time of day (open, mid, close)
● Monitor customer flow and adjust staffing or priorities to maintain service standards
● Ensure staff are following all procedures and expectations during the shift
● Address performance or behavior issues immediately and reinforce expectations
● Handle customer concerns or issues quickly and professionally
● Ensure product is stocked and maintained by staff and meets presentation standards
● Direct restocking and organization of coolers, hot bar, and floor as needed
● Step in to support operations when needed without losing oversight of the shift
● Communicate any issues, gaps, or concerns to Jess clearly and promptly
Advanced Responsibilities:
● Maintain consistent execution of retail standards across all shifts worked
● Identify operational gaps and address them in real time
● Support training and development of retail staff during shifts
● Reinforce systems, processes, and expectations set by Retail Manager
● Monitor product movement and communicate trends (high/low selling items)
● Assist with inventory awareness and communicate product shortages or needs
● Support implementation of new processes, products, or changes in retail operations
● Maintain organization and efficiency across all areas of the retail floor
● Act as a leader on shift and set the tone for performance, urgency, and accountability
