Manufacturing Operator – Job Description (De‑Identified Version)

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining progressive die press machines, auxiliary equipment, saws, assembly tables, automated machinery, brazing equipment, and other manufacturing tools. The operator ensures safe production of high‑quality parts according to blueprint specifications and adheres to all safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate heavy‑duty power equipment to bend, form, stretch, and straighten various materials such as plates, extrusions, and structural shapes according to blueprints, layouts, and templates.
  • Assist with setup and operation of automatic and multi‑slide equipment performing simultaneous processes.
  • Read and interpret drawings, order sheets, schedules, and written or verbal instructions.
  • Verify material type, size, identification, configuration, and color before processing.
  • Assist with setup of dies, forming blocks, movable and stationary equipment; adjust stroke and feed as required.
  • Use micrometers, calipers, scales, tape measures, calculators, and fixed gauges to inspect work in process and ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Move materials using pallet jacks, lift trucks, or cranes (if qualified).
  • Install and verify safety devices as required for specific jobs.
  • Report faulty equipment, defective materials, or unusual conditions to appropriate personnel.
  • Follow all safety rules and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, which may require extended hours or additional workdays to meet production needs.

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong troubleshooting and decision‑making skills.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multitasking environment and meet deadlines.
  • Self‑motivated, safety‑focused, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of basic manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to follow work instructions and read blueprints.
  • Experience using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred

  • Prior experience in a light industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Lift‑truck or powered industrial truck (PIT) experience.
