SUMMARY: Under direct supervision, processes and issues complaints, subpoenas, and certifications for the Court.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other related duties shall be assigned, as needed.

 

 

50%    Processes (i.e. types, issues, posts and files) Motions, Subpoenas, Amended Complaints, and alias pleadings. Answers telephones and waits on customers at the counter, which includes filing new cases, Motions and Subpoenas, collecting court costs, and signing in witnesses. Performs work for other employees, when needed.

 

30%    Pre-posts all Motions with Journals and all Magistrates Decisions and Magistrates Recommendations and any pleading with a Journal Entry; pulls all docket sheets on above.

 

20%    Files new cases, motions, journals and subpoenas; issues certified copies of Journal Entries; collects payments of court costs; signs in witnesses; answers telephone and provides general information to public.

 

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one (1) to three (3) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Individual should be computer literate and have keyboard skills.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memorandums. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization. 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply logical and common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but sometimes involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
