Description: The Pickaway County Board of Developmental Disabilities is seeking an Early Intervention (EI) Service Coordinator on a contract basis to support its Early Intervention Program. This is an ongoing independent contractor position with an estimated workload of approximately 1,248 hours per year. The typical workload is around 24 hours per week, though hours may vary during holiday weeks and at other points throughout the year based on program and family needs.
The Early Intervention Service Coordinator works with families and children birth to three years of age who have identified developmental delays or disabilities, providing services in the family’s home, virtually, or in other natural environments. Candidates should enjoy working collaboratively with families and community partners and demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational and time management abilities. The schedule is flexible and may include evenings to accommodate family availability.
Summary of Duties: The Early Intervention (EI) Service Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for families enrolled in Ohio Early Intervention and supports them through a family‑centered, strength-based approach. Responsibilities include explaining and safeguarding parent and child rights; coordinating initial and ongoing eligibility; and organizing, facilitating, and documenting Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) meetings to identify family needs, supports, and services.
The Service Coordinator assists families in identifying, accessing, funding, and monitoring Early Intervention services; and empowers families to advocate for their child and family by connecting them with needed resources and supports. This role also coordinates transitions to preschool and other programs prior to the child’s third birthday, ensures accurate and timely documentation and data entry within mandated timelines, and maintains compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations while protecting the rights of children and families.
Qualifications: Minimum of an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study in the area of child development, special education, social work, nursing, human services or other related field of study; Have and maintain a valid driver’s license, as well as submit to initial and periodic state and/or federal criminal background checks.
Certification: Meets or is eligible for the necessary EI Service Coordination certification requirements.
Compensation: Compensation is provided on a contract basis at an hourly rate, invoiced according to terms outlined in the contract. This position is not eligible for employee benefits.
