JOB RESPONSIBILITIES



Weekend rotation required every 6 to 8 weeks, along with holiday rotation.



Warehouse or supply chain experience is preferred



* Operations - Supervises daily operations ensuring the facility's compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and compliance with the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals. Schedule animal technicians and monitor workload to ensure all work is equally distributed and completed to high quality standards. Participates in IACUC, USDA, and AAALAC reviews of the vivarium. Participates in developing policies, procedures, and innovative techniques for the division and may assist in developing the annual budget, per diem rates, and future strategic planning.



* Supervision - Prepares and administers employee performance reviews. Provides training to new employees ensuring quality animal care and husbandry is provided to the animals in our stewardship. Clearly communicates job requirement and goals for each position and provides sufficient training to achieve the desired level of competency. Document evidence of competence on a continuing basis using the performance management system. Participates in the interviewing and hiring of staff.



* Customer Service and Problem Solving - Serves as a resource for research staff regarding all facility related constraints or questions. Triages health cases and analyzes trends and patterns that warrant veterinarian attention. Proactively analyzes animal housing space usage and helps management make informed decisions. Analyzes facility problems for root cause solutions. Evaluates facility practices and research animal procedures for compliance with SOP's and IACUC protocols. Maintains biosecurity for the facility.



JOB QUALIFICATIONS



* Bachelor's degree in related field



* 6+ years of experience in the care and husbandry of laboratory animals or American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG), Certified Manager of Animal Resources (CMAR) certification



* Must have ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand the duration of shift, and perform repetitive physical activities such as: pushing and pulling wheeled racks and carts, utilize a ladder or step stool, lift above shoulder level, reaching, stooping, and bending



* Preferred: 3+ years of supervisory experience



* Preferred: Knowledge of LEAN concepts and operational efficiency
