Job Summary
The Lead Electrical Engineer is a senior individual contributor responsible for leading the electrical design of low voltage electrical enclosures and controls for High Density Liquid Cooling Products. This role drives design excellence from concept through production release, providing technical leadership and mentorship across the electrical engineering team. The Lead Electrical Engineer supports the Global Racks and Thermal Edge business, acting as a technical authority on electrical design decisions while collaborating with Supply Chain, Quality, and cross-functional product development teams.
Responsibilities:
* Lead the electrical design of low voltage enclosures (>460V AC) for High Density Liquid Cooling Products
* Develop and maintain schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable harness designs using Creo Schematic or equivalent CAD tools
* Lead detailed design reviews and deliver technical recommendations to engineering leadership
* Create and maintain component libraries in Product Development Cloud
* Collaborate cross-functionally with Mechanical, Firmware/Software, Test, Supply Chain, Quality, and Manufacturing teams
* Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior electrical and controls engineers
* Support prototype builds and production launches at Vertiv factories
* Ensure designs comply with UL, IEC, and National Electrical Code standards
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
* 7+ years of experience in hardware development
* 5+ years with PLM or Product Documentation Management tools
* Proficiency in Creo Schematic or similar schematic capture tools
* Knowledge of UL, IEC standards, and National Electrical Code
* Experience with logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other debug tools
* Proficiency in writing functional requirements and documenting designs
* Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring ability
* Strong communication, collaboration skills, and English fluency
* Preferred:
* UL/IEC 60335-2-40 experience
* Experience in design for testability and manufacturability
