SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have at least 2 months of verifiable experience in all job duties. This job requires exposure to extreme temperatures, ability to lift 30 lbs., repetitive movements, extensive walking, frequent stooping, extensive pushing and pulling.
JOB DUTIES: Handling manual tasks associated with commodity production and harvest activities. The employer is seeking reliable, hardworking individuals to assist with the blueberry packing. Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. Once the blueberries are picked, they will be brought to the packing shed. The workers will sort, grade, clean, pack, weigh, stack, load, and unload the blueberries. Workers will be responsible for selecting berries according to criteria and discarding poor quality, rotting and/or over-ripened berries. Duties also include other general packing shed labor such as, but not limited to, use of labeler, color sorter and box maker machine. Workers must understand the mechanics of the packing machine. They must take care not to damage the berries. Workers will clean areas of trash and debris, sweep, mop, clean restrooms, and clean lugs. Workers must have good hand-eye coordination for the quality of the blueberries and be able to work swiftly with their hands while standing. Repetitive physical conditions such as prolonged standing, heavy bending, stooping, reaching and lifting will be involved on a regular basis.
EMPLOYER ASSURANCES:
BOARD ARRANGEMENTS: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities so workers are able to prepare their own meals. The employer will provide transportation to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries.
HOUSING: Employer-provided housing is available for all workers who live outside a reasonable daily driving distance.
TRANSPORTATION TO WORK SITE: The employer will provide transportation for all workers living in the employer-provided housing to and from the daily work site(s).
WORKERS COMPENSATION INSURANCE: Provided.
TOOLS, SUPPLIES, EQUIPMENT: Tools, supplies, and equipment needed to complete the job will be provided by the employer at no cost to the worker.
