The intake worker coordinates admissions into the inpatient detoxification unit. The Intake Coordinator will provide telephone/assessment scheduling, intake, insurance and admission support, for Rosary Hall Department including Intensive Outpatient and Detoxification. Serve as primary support to intake nurse with telephone inquiries. The Intake Coordinator will have knowledge of the disease of addiction, 12 steps and 12 step support groups (AA/Alanon etc.)
The Intake Coordinator must have superior customer service, communication and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively serve the Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health clients/patient being referred to Rosary Hall. Must have knowledge and experience working with insurance companies and excellent telephone communication skills. Experience working with Alcohol/Drug and Mental Health clients/patients is required The Intake Coordinator must be able to work flexible hours, holidays, and/or evenings as required. The Intake Coordinator must be able to effectively prioritize, facilitate and complete assignments in an accurate and timely fashion, and maintain strict confidentiality of clients/patients records as well as all other duties as assigned.
Completes position responsibilities in a timely manner
Provide support to the intake nurse
Check in with the intake nurse at the beginning of the shift, and throughout the day for tasks and direction for the day
Serves as primary contact for walk in and unannounced clients
Assist in IOP group therapy and detoxification sessions when necessary
Assist with group therapy detox screens when needed
Escort patients to registration and 6B as directed
Assist with Pre-Treatment as directed
Update and print IOP/NIOP log sheets for counselors each day (when at the front desk)
Schedule AOD assessments and provide support for the assessment department when necessary
Documents accurately and completely all care provided using appropriate records and within allotted time frame
Verify all insurance for all future assessment appointments (Passport/Meditech)
Expedite voicemail and waitlist calls from previous day, prioritize calls and ensure documentation and follow-up is completed
Make appropriate referrals to all patients that are not eligible for Rosary Hall’s detoxification services.
Maintains current state licensure/. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to communicate patient and family needs and progress with other disciplines and agencies as necessary
Possesses skills consistent with availability to set priorities and ensure accuracy and completeness of work performed with regards to documentation on intake and insurance forms
Serves as primary support for intake nurse with telephone inquiries from patients & their family members to facilitate AOD and behavioral health admissions or other clinically appropriate dispositions
Responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with unit-specific staff, internal and external physicians, other hospital personnel, AOD, mental health & other community providers and conducts a systematic telephonic interview directed at the presenting problem and its precipitants and medical co-morbidities. Ensures patient meets admission criteria ( primary DSM diagnosis, depending on unit medical co morbidities accepted )
Establishes and maintains rapport with the patient or patient representative
Verifies insurance eligibility, obtains required pre-cert when applicable and documents number of approved days
Answers intake call and cover lunch for other intake staff
Contacts admitting physician for approval
Books bed with registration
Notifies nursing staff/floor of admissions, Forwards clinical intake information and benefit checks to unit and registration department
Notifies referent/ patient of acceptance and directions
Notifies nursing supervisor of unit admissions
Checks bed availability every 4 hours & Pending detoxification admissions
Checks with detoxification unit on pending detoxification admissions before booking bed
Reports on and off with the 2W charge nurse and nursing supervisor who does intake function
Education- Degree in Nursing or Social Work
Licensure- LSW, LISW
Experience - Previous experience working in substance abuse/dependence and Behavioral Health, previous intake experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
LSW, LISW required
Minimum of three years’ experience in Chemical Dependency and Mental Health.
Minimum of three years experience in Intake or equivalent.
Minimum of two to five years experience in the health care field
Superior customer service, communication, and organizational skills
Demonstrated PC skills (MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook)
Able to work days or evenings
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
Must work evenings and weekends.
