The Graphic Artist is responsible for providing onsite graphics support for NASA Glenn Publishing Services, including staffing the area during core business hours, completing design requests, and prioritizing work requests. The incumbent will perform other assignments and duties as required.
Primary/Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Conceptualizes and produces high-quality, appealing artwork based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts
Provides design expertise and has specialized knowledge and understanding of current graphics trends for a wide variety of products
Creates extensive book layouts
Interprets customer requirements and designs/creates high-quality graphics products that comply with Agency and/or publisher specifications
Serves as a team member and/or contact for a variety of NASA Glenn events, providing design guidance for those products associated with workshop or event planning
Creates accurate statistical figures and drawings that have been conceived by others and presented in the form of rough sketches or mark-up copy
Researches and comprehends the requirements for creating statistical figures to specification for a variety of formats, i.e., journals, technical reports, and presentations
Meets with customers and/or coworkers to understand the mechanical or scientific function or the subject matter of the design layout
Serves as a production troubleshooter
Responds to executive staff requests
Tracks and records time and quantities for each completed request
Replies to customer, coworker, management inquiries
Follows proper electronic archiving procedures
Adheres to NASA policies and procedures, such as Communications Materials Review (CMR)
Comply with all Alutiiq Policies, Procedures, and Directives in the performance of duties under the TIALS 2 Contract.
Comply with all TIALS 2 Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in the performance of duties under the contract.
Comply with all provisions of the TIALS 2 Safety Plan.
Comply with all provisions of the TIALS 2 Quality Plan.
Comply with all provisions of the TIALS 2 Organizational Conflict of Interest (OCI) Avoidance Plan.
Maintain regular and acceptable attendance level as determined by the company
Complete all assigned training

Associate of Arts and Science
Minimum of 10 years experience
Has extensive knowledge of exhibit production
Possesses technical ability, discernment, and specialized training beyond that required for general graphic production work
Possesses technical ability and expertise using graphics finishing equipment, such as poster printers and laminators
Strong communication and customer service skills
Has comprehensive software knowledge, including but not limited to:
Macintosh Adobe Creative Suite (i.e., Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
Windows PC, Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Adobe Acrobat Pro
May be required to work off-hours to meet contract requirements
May be required to support ATS new business activities
Demonstrates a strong work ethic
