SUMMARY
JOB SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care in the ICU. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her assigned patients; He/She communicates with the physician about changes in the patient?s clinical condition including hemodynamic monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and abnormal results and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
? Collects and records patient's current symptoms, detailed past medical history, medications and vital signs;
? Consults and coordinates with healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care plans;
? Performs triage while considering both physical and psychosocial elements;
? Works directly under physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, assisting during exams, diagnostic testing, and treatments;
? Manages basic life support needs and stabilizes patients based upon nursing standards and protocols;
? Initiates corrective action for adverse symptomology;
? Administers oral, subcutaneous, intravenous, and intramuscular medications per practitioner's orders;
? Provides IV therapy and phlebotomy, sends blood/urine specimens to lab for testing;
? Reports and documents adverse reactions to medications and treatments in accordance with hospital policy;
? Initiates patient and family education concerning home care needs, medications, and follow-up appointments and treatments;
? Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation, including patient condition, treatments, and responses.

QualificationsDiploma, Associate's Degree, or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an Accredited School and at least two years experience in critical care/intensive care.
License, Registration, or Certification
Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio
Certification in Basic Life Support (Healthcare Provider CPR)
Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or must obtain within 30 days of hire.
