Position Summary

A supervisory role responsible for a team of project managers accountable for successfully planning, controlling and managing project deliverables to ensure that the Control & Visualization Business (CVB)'s Customer Response Team engineering expectations are met.

Essential Functions:

Supervises all aspects of engineering functions for product development projects under the CRT, including software, firmware and test disciplines.
Assists team of engineers to design and development of resolutions to customer issues.
Works with business owners to develop operational plans for specific release deliverables to meet customer expectations.
Fosters engineering best practices and applies appropriate design and development methodologies
Ensures compliance to appropriate engineering development policies and standards.
Develops and maintains processes and interfaces to core product development teams ensuring that efficient and timely deliveries are performed to our customers as well as internal core development activities
Supports efforts to provide work estimates for software and firmware related tasks including work breakdowns and status reports as requested.
Performs employee reviews including career development, technical competency assessments, peer assessments and performance improvement plans
Reports to the Manager of the Customer Response Team and effectively works with team peers as well as those in the core development teams

Typically supervises 6-10 engineering professionals.
Responsible for coaching and development of direct reports to continually grow the engineering capability within the team.
Leads design and development efforts on complex engineering problems.
Participate in process improvement activities within the CVB engineering community as requested
Coaches and helps develop less-experienced engineers assigned to the team.  On-boards new hires assigned to team.
Provides input to resource performance evaluations and goal setting for all engineers in the team.
Assists manager with resource planning: assignments for team members.
Works with direct reports to address training needs and functional gaps within the team.
Creates an environment conducive to successful team interaction.

Responsible for delivering project expectations and holding individual engineers accountable for driving those results.
Responsible for following all applicable corporate, company, governmental and regulatory policies and procedures as appropriate for this position.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree or relevant equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:

BS in Engineering discipline or equivalent knowledge

Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of management experience.

Further education in business administration, operations, or project management is a plus.

Minimum 5 years of experience in a software or firmware development environment with at least 2 years in a technical leadership capacity

Familiar with design patterns, and object oriented languages with experience in architecting modular software.

Knowledge of industry, application or technology knowledge relevant to industrial automation controls and visualization products helpful

Demonstrated ability  to work in a stressful environment where constructive feedback from others is encouraged

Demonstrated ability to influence others.
