Duties: Help improve and implement technical solutions, and maintain and upgrade databases and data warehousing processes, for Nationwide’s Actuarial Modernization Program initiatives. Perform systems analysis of existing data models and scheduling processes and help develop new end-to-end automated data flow batch processes needed to capture and process data for complex actuarial and financial operations. Apply tools such as MS Access, Python and SQL Server to upgrade actuarial applications SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) data integration platform. Create Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) jobs for data warehousing operations and upgrade and maintain SQL components and existing data warehousing processes. Help monitor technical processes within the actuarial department and develop technical documentation for the existing and new batch processes in Nationwide Actuarial department.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, M.I.S., Engineering, or related technical field. Three years of experience in system analysis, design, and development in databases and data warehouse projects, including formulating business requirements and preparing data mapping documents for ETL processes. Experience must include: 1) developing ETL processes for data extraction and using ETL tools, including SSIS, for package design and development; 2) Database performance tuning with advanced indexing techniques within SQL Server; 3) Use of ESP scheduling tool; and 4.) Developing advanced scripts and designing table structures for performance.
