Job Description

      The Arc of Ohio is the voice of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families, friends of people with disabilities and those who work with them.
     
      The Arc is a grassroots organization which it advocates for human rights, personal dignity and community participation of individuals with developmental disabilities through legislative and social action, information and education. 

Duties:

 *Providing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Helping with daily tasks, feeding, assisting them with proper administration of medicine (training needed), hygiene and grooming, etc.

 *Assist with preparing meals. Putting together a healthy and well balanced diet that a physician has already planned out.

 *Ability to assist in lifting the individual. Anywhere from lifting them in and out of a chair, their bed, transportation, changing their clothes, showering etc.

 *Help transporting to and from doctors’ offices, jobs, recreational, etc (this is if you choose to provide transportation).

 *Promoting a safe and positive attitude for the individuals and their families.

 *Documenting services. Making sure everything is documented in the right place and on time.

 *Teaching and helping the individual with working on self-lifestyle. Helping build their confidence and as much independence.

 *Preforming household cleaning. Picking up and putting anything away that was left out. Making sure the environment is always safe and clean.

Qualifications:

 *Must be 18 years of age or older
 *High school diploma or GED (we do accept those who do not have a high school diploma or GED)
 *Must have good communication. Understanding through verbal or written words.
 *Must provide valid driver’s license, auto insurance (if you choose to provide transportation).
 *We provide CPR and 8 hour trainings, BCI as well. 
*Ability to work in home-like settings.
 *Ability to lift 20 pounds or more. Reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, and being able to walk for periods at a time.
 
  This is a full time and part time position.

  The hourly rate starts at $11.00 per hour and can increase with add on's.
