Job Description


This role is in the PPG Automotive Refinish Color Platform Team based in Cleveland, OH. The Color Platform Team handles product development, maintenance, and manufacturing support for pigment dispersions across five solventborne product platforms, and additionally provides local support for two waterborne platforms. The products are used in automotive repair body shops across the world.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new products using existing formulation practices, working with marketing and manufacturing to ensure on-time delivery of projects
  • Make and test formulas in laboratory, body shop, and manufacturing environments
  • Write clear instructions for technicians to use when completing work
  • Analyze results of experiments, then recommend and carry out path forward
  • Support manufacturing in local and global locations with formula implementation and alignment, and with quality control challenges as they arise
  • Evaluate new raw materials for color capability, cost savings, and/or supply security applications
  • Learn about and test new raw materials and technologies for product or process improvement

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, or similar field is required.
  • A background in paint, color, formulation, and/or experimental design is preferred.

Functional & Technical Skills:

An ideal candidate will be process-minded with good critical thinking and communication skills.
