Job Description

Tax Senior for Deloitte Tax LLP in Columbus, OH to assist clients to manage state tax liability and such challenges as states with unique tax laws, the enforcement focus of state departments of revenue, the growing number of audits, and increased merger and acquisition activity. Provide services related to restructuring, credits and incentives, sales and use tax, sales and use tax outsourcing, state income and franchise tax, state strategic tax review, and state tax controversy. Provide compliance and consulting services to corporate and individual clients. Identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Under the supervision of Tax Manager, oversee complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries as well as researching and analyzing a wide range of tax issues such as deferred tax liability issues and tax implications of financing techniques for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Offer unique insight into the many factors affecting taxation, from the tax policies that drive federal tax legislation, to understanding the technical nuances that may create compliance exposure. Assume tax-planning responsibilities for corporate and individual clients. Participate in the decision making on project teams. Mentor and coach junior team members, including remotely located personnel, on work assignments, provide regular performance feedback and schedule check-ins. Requires: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Accounting, Finance, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus eighteen months of experience applying federal, state, and local tax rules to corporate and individual clients. Experience must include eighteen months of: preparing and reviewing tax returns, estimates, extensions, and provisions for corporations and partnerships in multistate jurisdictions; performing tax research utilizing tax software and tools, including CorpTax, GoSystems, RIA CheckPoint, BNA, and CCH; preparing and filing withholding and composite returns for partnerships and limited liability companies in multistate jurisdictions; preparing state income and franchise tax returns for corporations and partnerships based on varying state regulations for the apportionment of income and nexus creating activities; analyzing conflict state issues, including state compliance requests for real estate investment trusts, state audit provisions, multistate corporate conversions, and tax restructuring issues; performing state taxation services, including state apportionments, modifications and state and local credits calculations, based on varying state regulations; mediating between client and state revenue departments to resolve state tax notices, audit, and other tax-related issues/inquiries; preparing and filing K-1s, and withholding and composite returns for partnerships and limited liability companies, including private equity and real estate funds; and performing tax planning and consulting for pass-through entities.
