Tectum, a subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries and one of eleven North American plants, is looking for an experienced Predictive Maintenance (PdM) Technician to join our Maintenance Team. Tectum has over 70 years of experience and innovation producing wall, roof and ceiling tiles. We currently employ ~100 people across 2 shifts who are involved in the manufacturing and shipping of our Tectum product. The hourly rate for the PdM Technician role is $25-$28/hour depending on skillset. Medical, Dental and Prescription premiums are 100% paid for employees and their families. Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, this position is responsible for leveraging predictive maintenance methodologies in a way that contributes to the continuous improvement of the Tectum manufacturing processes and the plants overall performance.
This position is responsible for creating and executing the Predictive Maintenance (PdM) process to report the health of various types of industrial equipment and machines to proactively identify issues prior to failure. Predictive technologies include but not limited to the following: vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, and ultrasound. Activities include software setup, portable analyzer setup, field data collection, data analysis, and preparation and reporting of detailed equipment condition assessment reports. This technician will work in a cross functional team assisting other maintenance technicians as work requires.
Implement and own the PdM system for the Tectum Plant.
Conduct vibration analysis routes on industrial manufacturing equipment and search for opportunities to enhance those routes in order to elevate equipment performance for effective route management.
Conduct infrared thermography and acoustical routes leveraging findings to drive corrective actions.
Understand and use Motor Circuit Analysis.
Owns and maintains the PdM data collection, storage, software, and reporting equipment within maintenance.
Troubleshoot machine problems using predictive maintenance technologies; ultra-sonic, vibration, infrared thermography, oil analysis and motor circuit analysis.
Implement predictive maintenance practices for all new equipment installations.
Assists in the training of the maintenance craftsmen in utilizing PdM technologies in order to better maintain full functionality of the plant equipment.
Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis.
Use balance machine and correctly balance equipment as needed.
Work within primary craft during outages and other times when PdM work is not necessary.
Perform and/or assist in basic mechanical or electrical repair work as necessary to diagnose failure and/or confirm failure diagnosis.
Collect and analyze PdM data to drive equipment reliability.
Work with maintenance, production, and engineering to investigate, analyze, predict, prevent and plan for the correction of equipment failures.
Work is performed safely and within plant regulations in order to prevent injury or damage to equipment and materials.
Five (5) years of maintenance experience which may include hydraulics, controls, electrical, mechanical, welding, electrical, PLC's, and pneumatics. Experience in maintenance and monitoring of rotating equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
Level 1 Certification in Vibration Analysis.
Demonstrates proficiency in the use, application and maintenance of vibration data acquisition software and diagnostic equipment.
Actively participate in training in order to acquire a Level 2 vibration certification as well as other training pertaining to the job.
Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Safety-conscious work habits such as lock out/tag out, proper use of personal protective equipment, and possesses a knowledge of potential for personal injury and equipment damage while performing jobs.
Must be willing to work overtime and some weekend shifts.
Ability to work in a cross functional team to drive equipment reliability.
Level 2 or greater certification in vibration analysis.
Level 2 or greater certification in thermography.
Level 2 or greater certification in oil analysis.
Proven ability to analyze vibration and oil analysis data.
Experience specifying vibration systems including transmitters, probes, accelerometers and the associated hardware.
Experience in shop and field balancing of rotating equipment.
Experience in installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment such as rotary screw compressors, gear boxes, blowers, pumps, and motors.
Knowledge of general rotating equipment fundamentals such as assembly fits and tolerances.
Knowledge of preventative maintenance requirements for rotating equipment.
Previous experience using a CMMS (SAP) work order system.
Lean manufacturing and 5S experience.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.

This position operates in a manufacturing setting and can be subject to extreme cold and hot temperatures; uneven walking surfaces with cords, tools and other obstacles; intermittent loud noises; and dusty or dirty conditions. Required PPE includes: Safety glasses, earplugs, steel toe/composite boots, and pants. Must be available to work at any time, day (including weekends) and rotating shifts.
