Rumpke is seeking hardworking and dedicated student interns to join our Norwood Overhaul Division, located in Norwood, OH near Cincinnati. Exact days and times are flexible.
The Norwood Overhaul Interns will be exposed to and assist with day-to-day maintenance activities including:
Performing sanding, grinding, cutting, welding and other fabrication or repair work on company containers, compactors, and fleet vehicles in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
Grinding metal parts after welding.
Welding steel components using Mig, Tig, and Arc welding equipment.
Cutting steel using a plasma cutter or torch.
Bending steel components using a break or shear.
Fabricating steel components on containers and fleet vehicles
Maintaining a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company and OSHA standards.
Performing related work such as flame cutting, bending, forming, beveling, notching of metal and plastic parts.
Utilizing standard shop hand tools, measuring devices, and equipment.
Installing lids and wheels on containers.
Painting repaired and/or new containers.
Maintaining professional interaction with internal and external customers.
May assist in other areas of the vehicle maintenance shop as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Skills:
Ability to follow all department rules, procedures and instructions
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to exercise good judgment and take responsibility
Ability to take directions from multiple sources and prioritize accordingly
Ability to maintain compliance by wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary
Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in awkward positions and tight areas)
Must be currently enrolled in the Butler Tech Diesel Technology Program and meet the necessary requirements of eligibility for internship.
Legally eligible to work in the United States
Must possess a good mechanical aptitude of vehicle maintenance
Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location, department or line of business.
Exposure to noise, heat, dust, and fumes as found in a repair facility.
Exposure to extreme weather conditions possible.
Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
