Job Description

The Position

West Chester Township is searching for an intern to aid in conducting a complete review of its personnel structure and compensation and benefits package. The organization is at a point of evolution, and the person selected as the Administration Intern will help shape this very important piece of personnel management.

The Administration Intern will report to the Assistant Township Administrator and aid the Management Analyst in collecting and analyzing data. An essential part of the duties for the Administration Intern is collecting data in various forms, from interacting with Township staff through interviews and focus groups to conducting surveys of other organizations.


Candidates for this position must be currently enrolled in a college degree program for Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field. Enrollment in a graduate level program is preferred.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate takes initiative in problem solving, works well independently and meets deadlines consistently. This position will work closely with Township leadership and support staff but will be expected to plan some work tasks on their own.

The ideal candidate will be a great teammate. Although this is a temporary position, the Administration Intern will need to become part of the team in order to be successful in this position. The person in this position must communicate well verbally and in writing and provide regular feedback on project progress.

The ideal candidate must be adaptable. West Chester is a busy and dynamic organization; there is always a need for an extra helping hand. While the main focus of this internship is conducting an organizational analysis, there may be other projects the Administration Intern is asked to participate in.

The expected wage is between $15.00 and $20.00 per hour, depending on qualifications.
