Job Description


  1. Assists in preparing resident trays by putting on silverware, napkins, cups, food, etc.
  2. Maintains sanitary conditions by thoroughly cleaning work areas and equipment.
  3. Prepares dishes and utensils for dishwasher and properly stores them after they have been washed.
  4. Assists in clearing trays.
  5. Gets supplies of milk, cream, butter, ice, etc. for resident tray line.
  6. Takes tray carts to floors.
  7. Performs related work as assigned.
  8. Checks trays to make sure all items required are on the trays.
  9. Places the trays on the food cart and delivers trays to unit and announces trays are on the unit.
  10. Responsible for unloading carts and washing them.
  11. Loads, operates and cleans the dishwasher and maintains sanitary conditions in the work area.
  12. Prepares dishwasher for operation and empties it when finished.
  13. Operates dishwasher to assure thorough cleaning of dishware and utensils.
  14. Keeps all equipment, work area, walls, and floors clean and orderly.
  15. Reports any needed supplies, faulty working equipment, accidents, problems, etc.
  16. Sees that needed supplies are on hand.
  17. Empties paper, garbage and soiled linen hampers.
  18. Assists with pot and pan washing and unpacking of supplies.
  19. Sweeps and mops kitchen floor.
  20. Performs related work as assigned and any other functions as designed by the Certified Dietary Manager.
  21. Receives direct supervision from the Certified Dietary Manager.
  22. Attends necessary in-services such as on topics of OSHA, Blood Bourne Pathogens, Fire Evacuation Plan, Dietary In-Services, and any Emergency Weather and SDS’s.
