The immunoassay function within R&D is responsible for developing the next generation diagnostic kits for Meridian. The Senior Research Associate will support the development of a new diagnostic device as part of an assay team. Responsible for designing and executing experiments, acquiring data, drawing conclusions for discussion and recommendations.
Supports the technical work of a project – execute experiments
Participates in brainstorming discussions and sharing ideas with the team
Presentations – present data during team meetings
Data analysis – review the data generated by a given study and draw conclusions
Documentation ownership – write protocols, reports and any other documentation needed for the support of the project
Interact with colleagues inside and outside the R&D organization
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Understanding and application of immunological principles. Theories and concepts to include comprehension of scientific material at the theoretical level. General knowledge of other related principles.
Ability to contribute to tactical planning based on understanding of the technical area.
Ability to recommend technical decisions that impact project delivery.
Ability to independently use advanced theoretical knowledge to solve problems or to develop useful concepts into practice.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science Degree required, or an equivalent. At least 3 years practical experience. 1-year experience with Master of Science degree.
Experience with lateral flow technology preferred.
Must have the ability to lift 20 pounds throughout the work day.
Must be able to concentrate, analyze and solve complex issues throughout the course of the work day
Ability to walk up and down several flights of stairs throughout the work day
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (gloves, face shields/safety glasses, latex or nitrile gloves, etc.).
Maybe required to be fully gowned for performing tasks in a clean room environment
Must be able to adhere to applicable bio-safety practices when on the manufacturing floor or in laboratories.
Ability to stand, stoop, reach, push and pull throughout the course of the work shift.
Experiments may involve materials that are considered potentially biohazardous. Must be able to work with human substances such as blood, urine, mucus, stool etc.
Must be able to identify and differentiate color on diagnostic devices or components.
