Job Description

OhioMeansJobs|Cleveland-Cuyahoga County is currently sourcing Spanish IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program) Counselor local treatment center.

Provides treatment planning, intensive and long-term individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, psycho education, case management, advocacy, family therapy, drug screening and follow-up to a diverse population of chemically dependent individuals dealing with emotional and mental disorders.

Duties and Responsibilities

-Screening/assessing clients, reviewing records, and conferring with other professionals.

-Counseling clients’ in group or individual therapy sessions relating to chemical dependency/abuse to develop/restore healthy level of biopsychosocial functioning.

-Counseling and helping family members to enhance skills for managing, supporting, and understanding chemical dependency pertaining to the individual client and family systems.

- Develops and documents client’s individualized treatment plan; monitoring, evaluating, and recording client progress with that of treatment goals and modifying based on client status.

-Collaborating with staff and external providers to coordinate and plan treatment from pre-treatment through discharge planning; referring to external providers when medically necessary.

-Referring prospective clients, clients or families to community resources available for treatment or housing to further sobriety.

-Recommends treatment plans for clients to program manager and criminal justice officials.

-Identifies opportunities for program improvement and QI monitors.

-Participates in continuing education to continually improve skills and abilities and stay abreast of current technologies/practices.

-Ensures compliance with legal issues including but not limited to client confidentiality and risk management; ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

-Exhibits a high degree of professionalism when interacting with clients, families, and other personnel.

-Adjusts to fluctuating peaks in client flow, acuity, and other operational demands while maintaining quality.

-Performs other duties as assigned by manager and / or Director.

Skills/Qualifications:

-Must speak/write Bilingual Spanish and English

-Must possess state licensure or certification

-Must be willing to learn and ask questions, accept feedback and be accountable

-Excellent written and oral communication skills

-Ability to manage priorities and workflow;

-Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm;

-Strong interpersonal skills;

-Able to work collaboratively with internal staff as well as multiple external agencies.

-Knowledge of principles, procedures, regulations, ethical guidelines, and methods for treatment of the Substance Use Disorder population according to accrediting/licensing bodies.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Arts or Science, Social Work, Sociology, or any related field from an accredited institution.
  • Course certification in alcohol and drug counseling from a certified college.
