Description
Laborers are responsible for general upkeep and maintenance of the facility. Laborers also operate the tire de-rimmer and load materials into the tire shredder utilizing small equipment. Laborers may be exposed to unpleasant odors and sights and weather elements. The hours and physical demand may vary.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:


Performs duties in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.

Performs safe operation of the tire de-rimmer.

Loads materials into tire shredder.

Performs general housekeeping of the tire shredder facility and surrounding areas to maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company and OSHA standards.

Maintains supplies needed for cleaning.

Performs safe operating practices while operating small equipment.

Performs safe driving practices while driving to pick-up parts.

Performs minor repairs and maintenance.

Professional interaction with internal and external customers.

Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:


Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including repetitive lifting of 50 pounds or more, carrying. reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, and climbing).

Valid driver’s license.

Ability to operate small equipment or possess aptitude to learn.

Must pass a written and operational test to be licensed to operate forklift and/or bobcat.

Previous experience operating equipment preferred.

Mechanical aptitude preferred.

Self-starter, aggressive work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Safety conscious.

Must maintain excellent attendance record.

Ability to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays.

Ability to work in various conditions with exposure to weather elements.

Good verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally and able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location, department or line of business.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Legally eligible to work in the United States.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must have at least a valid driver’s license.

Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.

Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.

WORKING CONDITIONS


Exposure to extreme weather conditions.

Exposure to dust, noise, heat, cold, and fumes found in a shop environment.
