GrafTech International has a challenging opportunity for a Customer Technical Service Engineer on its Customer Technical Service team. This position will provide strategic technical services to customers and provide feedback and direction regarding customer perception of product application and performance used to improve processes and products. This engineer will provide customers with value-added service contributions that help to improve their production process and reduce costs. The candidate must have a strong understanding of electrical and have a strong technical background, be a self-starter and have well-disciplined work habits. This position will be located in the Corporate Office in Brooklyn Heights, OH.
Visit customers to enhance product application and acquire competitive performance information for the purpose of providing input for planning internal continuous improvement projects
Provide effective technical advice /service support to GTI Sales and other outside partners.
Contribute to the development and implementation of account strategy in the assigned area. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in customer accounts, optimizing account profitability.
Collect and analyze data and provide customers with deep technical insight regarding product operations and process control optimization.
Maintain GTI technical leadership in Arc Furnace Technology by assisting the Arc Furnace Monitoring team developing "state of the art" instrumentation required to collect necessary EAF data.
Analyze product performance and recommend commercial value-added differentiation strategies to Sales
Identify and recommend technical-based opportunities to enhance the value proposition through product performance and customer service
Lead the customer complaint resolution process and initiates preventive measures.
Coordinate customer electrode trials through sales.
BS Engineering principal. Emphasis on electrical three-phase power in an industrial environment strongly preferred.
Demonstrated project management, problem solving, and issue resolution skills.
Demonstrated influencing, communication, and presentation skills.
Experience in the steel making process is desired, EAF area preferred.
Demonstrated aptitude for grasping process control procedures and manufacturing operational sequences.
Open to working in a multi-cultural environment.
Strong team building and time management skills.
Capable of completing technical tasks with limited supervision or other assistance.
Ability to analyze related data, identify trends, and convert to action quickly.
Knowledge of statistical methods skills.
A level of confidence and capability with respect to presentation skills.
Domestic travel 50-75% with some international travel to steelmaking production facilities and other high-level clients.
