TriHealth - Good Samaritan Hospital seeks to hire a Director of Nursing for our Med/Surg area who will embrace our mission of improving the health status of the people we serve. Job Summary:

The Director of Nursing has the responsibility and accountability for leading, coordinating, facilitating, and monitoring patient care services and administrative aspects of nursing practice within the assigned area of responsibility. The area(s) of responsibility may include a specific nursing/patient care specialty unit/area, or a matrixed function across several units. This accountability encompasses patient care outcomes, service excellence, human resource issues, fiscal management, quality improvement, compliance, and communication. The Director is also responsible, to the site CNO for medical staff relations within their areas.

Essential Functions:

Manages nursing operations to achieve quality, service and satisfaction goals and meet budget targets.
Collaborates with the site CNO andphysicians to set goals and develop and implement initiatives and systems that improve quality of care and patient safety.
Facilitates the dissemination of research findings and the integration of evidence-based guidelines and practices into health care.
Demonstrates knowledge of regulatory standards and assures departmental compliance (e.g. Joint Comission, CMS, ODH, OSHA).
Assures the implementation of corporate and hospital specific models of care, systems, policies, and cultural norms that deliver superior patient care and support the recruitment and retention of nurses.
Sets clear performance expectations, conducts performance appraisals, mentors and guides the professional development of direct reports.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Master's Degree in Nursing or in related field with BSN.
Experience: 5-7 years of current or recent management experience in Nursing as well 3-4 years of experience in Med/Surg as Registered Nurse. Leadership experience a plus.
Specialized Knowledge: Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements for nursing, continuous improvement methodology in a healthcare environment, healthcare economics, and healthcare policy.
Licensure/Certification: Certification in related specialty within two years of assuming position or within 6 months of becoming eligible for the exam (whichever comes first).  Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
