The Material Follow-Up Specialist will coordinate and professionally handle the daily material movement follow-ups for the Honda Plants and monitor daily activity to reinforce supplier and carrier compliance proactively. They will be the primary contact for suppliers, carriers and In-Plant Coordinators with respect to material status, stop updates, Late ETA notification and border crossings. The shift avaliable is 3rd shift.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Reports on established KPI metrics to ensure that the TMC is meeting Customer Expectations.
Participates in identifying and implementing transportation savings within the North American Supply Chain.
As invited, provides recommendations and suggestions for out of the box solutions to support continuous improvement within the CEVA network.
Primary contact for suppliers and carriers regarding shipment inquiries.
Collect authorization for supplier delays from Buyers.
Support the electronic manifest and electronic release border process.
Data entry of status updates to inbound material movements.
Follow-up on discrepancies between the demand versus the shipped materials.
Follow-up with carriers on not-reported events.
Follow-up on Late ETA’s for late deliveries by contacting the affected Plant Buyer and delivery location.
Tender loads to EDI Carriers.
Issue Route Recap Sheets to Carriers.
Assist the Expedite Coordinator in arranging and following up on expedite shipments.
Assist Supply Chain Manager and Assistant Supply Chain Manager with various administrative tasks.
Assist with coordination of supplier window times between the Carriers and Honda Logistics.
Lead the communication process during weather emergencies.
Provides back-up support for Expeditors or In Plant Coordinators to ensure continuity of services provided.
Ensure all customs information is accurate for border crossing routes to avoid costly delays.
Minimizes the number of trailers required to ship the customer’s goods.
Be able to work with no direct supervision as one lead supports the group directly for 8 hours and operations cover 24 hours per day.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation/Logistics or related field is preferred.
One (1) to three (3) years related Transportation experience preferred.
Languages and Communication Skills:
Position requires excellent verbal/written communication and analytical skills.
Required work outputs will include reports, email correspondence, graphical presentations and data summaries.
Advanced skill in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications.
Accurate typing and data entry skills.
Basic math skills.
Balance team and individual responsibilities.
Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in demanding environments with tight deadlines.
