GrafTech International has an opening for a Principal Engineer with a strong engineering background. The position will be based out of the Brooklyn Heights, OH location.  The successful candidate will provide exceptional engineering expertise in the field of new production equipment, enhancements to existing equipment and project management from concept to production.

Job Responsibilities:

Conduct innovative process equipment concept design requiring a high level of creativity of approach.
Demonstrate exceptional skill in applying such designs to both existing and new plant equipment.
Develop production equipment for new products and enhance current capability and quality.
Proactively maintain and expand library of Equipment Technology and Maintenance Best Practices.
Manage and oversee projects throughout life cycle from concept to production.
Maintain expert level knowledge in Automated Machining and Quality Control Technology and keep management informed of trends.
Handle multiple projects with minimum supervision.
Make clear and effective presentations.
Demonstrated as the resource for graphite machining equipment development, operation, and maintenance.

Required Knowledge & Experience:

B. S. degree in a branch of engineering; BSME.
Advanced engineering degree preferred.
Particular competence in fields of Automated Machining and Quality Control, Metrology, and Control Systems.
Experience in design and/or operations of production equipment including Machining technology, automated assembly cells, production control systems.
Thorough knowledge of plant processes and solution to problems related to production equipment.
Project engineering and project management experience and demonstrated competence.
Extensive practical knowledge gained through years of experience in relevant industry.
Minimum of five years' experience in a strategic engineering role.

Preferred Skills:

Proven capability to lead large engineering projects of $5-15 million.
Project Management certification.
Application experience with SolidsWorks (3D) and Process / Machine Control Systems.
Competence in use of PolyWorks Inspector software.
