Assesses patient's health status, collects and documents data to charts, determines diagnosis by analyzing collected data, determines and implements plan of care, and evaluates patient's progress.
5NW – Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery – 28 bed unit
Orthopedic: Treatment of patients with severe and multiple fractures throughout the body, non-healing fractures, bone infections and other complex conditions.
Trauma: UCMC is the area’s only Adult Level 1 Trauma Center in the region. Our patients arrive from injuries sustained by motor vehicle crashes, gunshot wounds and unforeseen accidents. Our patient population is admitted from the ER, SICU and PACU. Nursing care is concentrated around recovering from traumatic injury with focus on mobility, patient education, monitoring intake and outputs and pain management.
Knowledge and Skills:
Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
Licenses and Certifications: Registered nursing license in state of practice.
