Job Description

The Whilrpool Ottawa team is seeking experienced assemblers for our Utility positions. These positions will likely be on third shift which runs on a 4-10 schedule from approximately 8pm Monday night thru 6:30am Friday morning allowing for an extended weekend with your family. 

 

You must have 9 months to a year in hands on assembly manufacturing experience within the last two years.


What You Will Do as a Utlility:

  • Fill in vacancies on the assembly lines and support areas as needed 
  • Assist in areas where workload, breakdowns, extra work or special projects necessitate additional manning
  • Perform rework/repair as necessary
  • Drive forklift or other vehicles to accomplish assignment
  • Post production data as required
  • Will be trained for Solder/Brazing
  • Will be trained for Lock Out Tag Out
  • Will be trained for Quick Kiazen's
  • Problem Solving
  • WCM Projects 
  • Training Employees

 

What You Need To Succeed

  • Must have a High School Diploma or a GED
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Work experience - Manufacturing experience is required; the ability to solder and/or drive a forklift is a plus
  • The ability to read and write simple English or American Sign Language, including following detailed directions
  • Ability to inspect, operate machinery, use air tools and standard hand tools (pliers, screwdrivers, etc), as well as interpret work instructions
  • The ability to repetitively wire, lube, glue,sort, and clip components of various sizes and lengths and weights
  • There will be a lot of standing, pulling, pushing lifting, bending and squating all day long
  • The ability to lift 
    • Occasional (0-33% of the workday) 20-50 pounds
    • Frequent (34-66% of the workday) 10-25 pounds
    • Constant (67-100% of the workday) up to 10 pounds
  • The ability to stand or sit for the duration of the shift
  • The ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to steel toe shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs, arm guards, gloves, etc
  • The position will require you have the ability to reach (over shoulder), twist/turn, push/pull and bend frequently
  • The ability to work with components that are in constant motion along an assembly line without adverse effects
  • The ability to work on a team of assemblers in close proximity to each other
  • The skill to make timely decisions and providing occasional instruction to each other
  • The ability to pass a drug test and background check
