Job Summary

Manages the Global One Meridian Windows server, network, communication, applications and systems staff to ensure efficient and top-quality service delivery.  Provide superior system performance along with excellent customer service to system users through managing development and maintenance activities on Microsoft Windows based applications, network equipment, Microsoft Windows based servers.


Works closely and collaboratively with all users and departments in the organization to facilitate a team environment that allows users to work as efficiently and effectively as possible while allowing evaluation and organization of change requests from departments.


Works closely with the Sr. Director, Global IT and staff to establish strategies, develop project plans, prioritize and assign resources, set staff and system performance timelines, create and adhere to budgeting criteria, build vendor relationships, negotiate contracts and statements of work.


Scope of responsibility includes Microsoft Windows based applications and servers, network and communication equipment located at all One Meridian sites.

Key Duties

Department Operations

Provides leadership, skill development opportunities, motivates and mentors the Windows server, network, communication and applications staff.
Responsible for the use of the corporate PC imaging system. Establishes corporate-wide controlled patch management and status reporting throughout all offices. 
Responsible for and oversees reliable operation of telecommunication systems including mobile/cellular communications, PBX,voicemail, and VOIP telephone sets.
Oversees the acceptable world-wide performance of applications and systems located at MBI headquarters
Oversees reliable operation of: Database administration for Windows based systems, Network LAN components, performance monitoring and WAN connections
Proactively plans for sufficient performance and capacity in network (LAN/WAN), Windows applications and systems.
Oversees the monitoring of system performance and manages operational efficiencies of applications and network systems
Functions as a leader, manager, and facilitator for select MIS projects.
Uses metrics to drive operational improvements.
Recommends and implements projects that increase employee efficiencies and corporate profit.
Champions and drives expanded use of new information technology systems and software in areas of responsibility.
Standardizes IT equipment at all One Meridian sites.
Responsible for the configuration, deployment, maintenance and validation of all client operating systems and client software.
Responsible for specifying, acquiring and implementing endpoint, server and network hardware and software.
Manages all aspects of Microsoft: Exchange, Active Directory.
Creates detailed FDA validation documents and records, Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs), and purchase requests.
Builds and maintains excellent vendor relationships.
Oversees the Server Room.


Responsible for server and endpoint IT security including regular upgrades of software and hardware.
Responsible for Office365 security
Assists with the Risk Control in the following IT Security Domains: Third Party Vendor Management, Facility Security, Disaster Recovery, Incident Response, Voice and Mobile, and Endpoint Protection. 
Manages the reliable operation of and ad hoc reports from the facility access and video surveillance systems.
Oversees Windows platform data and system backup, data retention, incident response and disaster recovery testing.
Assists with scheduling and conducting Incident Response and IT Disaster Recovery testing and Plan updates in compliance with company SOPs.   



Ensures staff adherence to Quality System Regulations, Meridian’s corporate policies and procedures, all applicable Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) regulations, and MIS Narratives.
Provides requested objective evidence of compliance to internal / external auditors.



Provides leadership, skill development opportunities, motivates and mentors the staff.
Conduct annual (at minimum) performance assessments.
Manages the day-to-day activities, work assignments, and on time completion of projects assigned to employees, contractors and self.
Functions as cross-functional leader and facilitator for MIS projects
Recommends proper staffing (employee/contractor) and expense model while maintaining system user satisfaction.
Assists in creating, regularly monitoring and managing annual departmental expense and capital budgets.
Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director, Corporate Information Systems.



Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of eight+ years’ experience in an information technology role.
Minimum of five years’ supervisory or managerial experience in an information technology environment required.
Prior experience in a business utilizing Microsoft PC, Microsoft SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager), Microsoft Azure AD, Microsoft Intune, and Microsoft operating systems.
MCSE certification strongly desired.
Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification or equivalent work experience a plus.


Skills, Specialized Knowledge and Abilities:

Demonstrated strong leadership, teambuilding, collaboration and organizational skills.
Ability to provide direct supervision and development opportunities for staff.
Significant knowledge of the computer system market (especially Microsoft PC and server systems), telephone systems, and other manufacturing-related business applications.
Prior experience with FDA-related applications a plus.
Highly motivated, readily adapts to changing priorities, effectively manages own time, sets priorities for direct reports to ensure tasks, multiple projects are prioritized and completed on time.
Possesses a high level of initiative and energy, an enthusiasm for learning, the capability to work with minimal supervision and have a client service approach to supporting users.
Prior experience with endpoint security, creating and maintaining computer system security.
Detail oriented with a passion for creating, reviewing, and revising written Quality System documents.
Must possess outstanding communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, problem solving and customer service skills.
Possesses strong analytical problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to train others in the effective use of technology.
Ability to research and recommend new applications of information technology.
Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality requirements.
Will be required to work hours outside the normal work schedule as needed to ensure departmental goals are met.


Requirements (Physical, Mental, Environmental Demands):

Ability to go up and down several flights of stairs throughout the workday in a multi-location facility.
Must be able to concentrate, analyze and solve complex issues throughout the course of the workday.
Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time, stoop, reach, bend throughout the course of the workday.
Ability to work on a PC including repetitive use of a keyboard and mouse for long periods throughout the course of the workday.
Ability to manually lift up to 75 pounds including PCs and other peripheral hardware.
Ability to travel by air/car to other locations of MBI as needed.
May be required to work outside the normal business hours including evenings, weekends and emergency call services.
Will carry cell phone to facilitate intra-department communications both during and after normal business hours.
