Job Description
         To develop, direct and coordinate Electrical Engineering projects for Fremont.  Projects assigned to this position are of varied complexity and cost.

II.

Duties

Investigates, develops, and implements projects and practices to improve plant safety, quality productivity, and waste.  Determines customer's needs by identifying problems and safety concerns.  Develops and evaluates solutions include cost estimates. Manages project costs and scheduling, and communicates pertinent data to appropriate areas for engineering projects which may vary in terms of scope and responsibilities. Establishes and promotes high performance work teams throughout the organization in accordance with World Class Manufacturing initiatives. Develops, prepares, and/or assembles the engineering package/project documentation for each assigned project.  This includes designs, calculations, layouts, schematics, manuals, etc. Provides the purchasing services for project materials required.  This includes reviewing potential vendors, contracting vendors, coordinates with the Purchasing department, issuing purchase orders, and expediting delivery. Completes New and Altered Equipment Reviews and Project Closeouts for appropriate projects. Coordinates or assists with installation, checkout, start-up, and training using in-house resources, contractors, and vendors, as appropriate. Provides electrical technical support to other project engineers, teams and the maintenance group as necessary. Interfaces with people, departments, and/or companies to insure that equipment is safe, made on schedule and to specification Promotes a system of open, honest communication with employees for ensuring project or process improvement success. Secures and maintains knowledge of current industry practices as they may apply to Bemis products and equipment. Maintains accurate records of both misc. and capital project improvements. Uses logical troubleshooting skills to diagnose problems and generate solutions. Coordinates high voltage electrical maintenance.  This occurs over Christmas holiday. Coordinates annual Infrared Scan for electrical system within the facility.

Knowledge

1.

Requirements

Good project management, problem solving, troubleshooting skills.
Basic knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft software, including Word, Excel and Project.
Strong organizational, problem solving and interpersonal skills to effectively contribute to executing projects.
Knowledge of plant power distribution, controls systems, and PLC's.
Ability to use measuring devices, read mechanical/electrical drawings, develop and use charts and schedules.
Ability to be a self-starter and take action on projects proactively.
Ability to coordinate and manage the work of outside contractors.
Must have valid driver's license (for emergency situations).

Has frequent contact with Project Engineering, Research & Development (R&D), Process/Product Engineers, Manufacturing, Maintenance, RE&D, Accounting, Purchasing, and Marketing personnel

Has frequent contact with machine manufacturers, equipment and component suppliers, contractors and personnel from other Bemis divisions.

V.

Responsibility

Responsible for design and procurement criteria for capital projects.
Serves as technical leader for the electrical engineering functional area and provides electrical technical support to other project engineers and maintenance group as necessary.
Attends and participates in engineering, safety, and other meetings and perform assigned projects as required.
Accepts and carries out other responsibilities of a critical or non-critical nature to maintain the company/facility and which may not be limited to the engineering department.
Willingness to work overtime as required by project, team, coworker absence, or plant emergency.
Demonstrates solid engineering practices in projects and in providing technical support, and promotes adherence to safety, standards, codes, rules, and regulations.
Communicates all appropriate information in a timely manner and fashion to the necessary people within and outside the organization.

VI.

Essential Physical Requirements

This position requires an employee to stand, walk and sit; navigate stairways and ladders; carry moderate loads and/or work at a computer for extended periods of time.  Frequent exposure to a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels and to outdoor elements is also required.  Potential to be exposed to heights. Travel (sometimes with extended stays) to other sites will be required as project assignments necessitate.
